Exotic Dances from the Opera by Eiji Oue released in 2009 on Reference Recordings. Most pieces on this CD are very wellknown, but Mr. Oue possesses the power to unveil hidden treasures within the music.

The Rimsky-Korsakov holds nothing on Ormandy’s wonderful rendition, happily appended to the end of that great conductor’s famous Nutcracker disc. Both the Saint-Saëns and Strauss are bested by Paray in my hometown of Detroit.
